Tekat is a type of couched embroidery that uses gold threads. It is popular in Perak associated with royal regalia.

Tekat is used in ceremonial items like clothing, pillow, tray covers used during Malay weddings. Most porpular motifs are jasmine and hibiscus flower, paddy stalks and bamboo shoots.
